Nostalgia Fans Raise Some Shell!

In 2010, Deadline broke the news that Michael Bay was producing another cinematic reboot of the “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles” franchise. Jonathan Liebesman was set to direct and despite some objections to this, all was going pretty well, that is, until, Bay said – [quote] “These turtles are from an alien race, and they are going to be tough, edgy, funny and completely lovable.” This one remark sent fans of the franchise into a frenzy. And now because of the fan outrage, the film’s release date has been pushed back to May of 2014.

Why has this one remark sent fans of the TMNT property over the edge? And are they all blinded by nostalgia for what they consider to be the origional story-line?

This week Tom, Erin and Mason discuss the nostalgic complexities that are preventing Michael Bay’s Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle movie from being made. The Streetcast team also takes a quick trip down memory lane to reminisce about some of the shows they used to watch as kids (or still do watch as adults.)
